GTM Quest is a go-to-market agency in London.
We are not a job board: we build the systems GTM teams work in (the ideal customer profile, the data, Clay, the CRM and outbound), and we help companies decide which GTM roles to hire and when.
This page is the guide we give people on both sides.
If you are looking for GTM jobs, it covers the roles, what they pay (every figure linked to its source) and the boards that list live openings.
If you are hiring, start with what we do before you hire.

01/ our service
Most GTM hires fail for the same reason: the person arrives and there is no system to run.
We build it first, so the hire starts on day one.
01
ICP, account lists, enrichment in Clay, CRM set-up and an outbound motion that already books meetings.
A new GTM engineer or SDR inherits something that works, not a blank page.
02
The outcomes the role owns in its first 90 days, the tools it must use, the stage experience that matters.
It is the first thing a good recruiter will ask you for.
03
GTM engineer before SDRs, RevOps before the third sales hire, a fractional leader before a permanent CRO.
We map the sequence to your pipeline and budget.
04
We run outbound and the data layer while the search runs, so pipeline does not stop because a seat is empty.
05
Documentation, recorded walkthroughs and a few weeks of air cover once the hire starts.
The lists, workflows and sequences stay yours.
06
For permanent searches we point you to the GTM recruitment specialists we rate.
For fractional and interim GTM leaders, our sister site Fractional Quest runs the brief.
We do not place candidates or charge placement fees.
Every engagement is scoped and quoted in writing after the discovery call.
More on the full service on how we work as a GTM agency.
02/ your first move
Four common starting points for a team that needs more go-to-market capacity.
Pick the one closest to yours.
What do you need most right now?
Build first
If there is no ICP, no clean data and no outbound that works, a hire will spend months building it.
We start the motion on day one, build the system around it, prove it, then hand it to the person you hire.
Best for seed to Series B teams with no GTM engineer yet.
Hire in-house
If outbound already works and the stack is in place, an in-house GTM engineer keeps improving it.
The State of GTM Engineering 2026 found the most mature teams build this capability in-house rather than outsource it.
See our GTM engineer guide.
Fractional
When the question is strategy (which market, which motion, which hires), a fractional CRO, CMO or head of GTM gives you senior judgement without a full-time salary.
Our sister site Fractional Quest finds and shortlists them.
Recruit
A specialist GTM recruiter, or an in-house recruiter once hiring is continuous.
Get the sequence and the scorecards right before you brief anyone.
Unsure which applies?
That is what the 15-minute call is for.
03/ the roles
GTM stands for go-to-market: everything a company does to find buyers, reach them and turn them into revenue.
A GTM role is any job whose output is pipeline or revenue, or the systems that produce it.
That covers sales, marketing, revenue operations, customer success and a newer technical role: the GTM engineer.
The titles vary more than the work.
One company's "GTM engineer" is another's "revenue systems engineer" or "marketing operations manager".
If you are searching for GTM jobs, search the work as well as the title: Clay, enrichment, outbound automation, CRM administration, attribution.
The common thread is ownership of a number.
A good GTM role says which number it moves (meetings held, pipeline created, win rate, net revenue retention) and gives the person the tools to move it.
In B2B software the GTM team usually has four parts: people who create demand (marketing, demand generation, product marketing), people who convert it (SDRs, account executives), people who keep and grow customers (customer success, account management) and people who run the machine (revenue operations and GTM engineering).
"GTM" is wider than sales.
A GTM engineer or RevOps manager may never carry a quota, but their work decides how many meetings the sales team gets and how clean the forecast is.
That is why these roles are grouped together on the specialist boards below.
04/ role by role
For the difference between the two operations roles, see revenue operations vs sales operations.
05/ what they pay
Published figures only, each from the page it came from.
US and UK figures come from different studies.
Do not compare them directly.
Reading the numbers. The State of GTM Engineering surveyed 228 people in more than 30 countries; RevOps Roles counts job listings that show pay; BisonRS reports from its own RevOps placements since 2021; the Bridge Group surveyed 351 companies, 78% in North America.
None of them is a UK-wide survey of every GTM role, and we have not found one we trust.
For a role-by-role view, see our GTM salary guide.
06/ the top of the market
At the top of the published data are leadership roles that own revenue systems.
BisonRS puts a London VP of revenue operations at £130,000 to £200,000 base, and £160,000 to £275,000 including bonus.
The Bridge Group puts median on-target earnings for a sales development VP at $240K and a director at $189K.
Among individual contributors, technical GTM engineers earn most.
The State of GTM Engineering found pay "climbs well beyond $200K" for operators who combine technical depth with ownership of pipeline, and a $40K to $45K premium for high-code engineers over low-code operators.
BisonRS sees the same pattern in RevOps: candidates who write SQL, build in Python and run AI workflows command a 20 to 30% premium.
The common factor is not the title.
It is owning a system that produces revenue, and being able to build it yourself.
07/ career paths
Five common routes.
Each panel says where people start and where the role leads.
Most sales careers start in sales development.
The Bridge Group found average SDR ramp of 3.0 months and average tenure of 1.9 years, and promotions were the largest single part of the 40% annual SDR attrition it measured.
RevOps rewards people who like systems and numbers.
BisonRS's London bands run from £45,000 for an analyst to £140,000 for a head of RevOps.
The newest path.
GTME Pulse's summary of its 2026 survey reports 53% of GTM engineers are self-taught, and the State of GTM Engineering found coding is the skill that moves people into the highest pay bands.
Demand generation, product marketing and marketing operations all lead to marketing leadership.
LinkedIn lists go-to-market strategy among the three most common skills of UK chief marketing officers in its Jobs on the Rise 2026 list.
Senior GTM leaders increasingly work fractionally: two or three days a week across more than one company.
Our sister site lists fractional GTM roles and fractional jobs across the UK and beyond.
08/ the market
Hiring is harder on both sides.
LinkedIn's January 2026 research found two-thirds (66%) of recruiters say it has become harder to find qualified talent in the last year, while LinkedIn data shows US applicants per open role have doubled since spring 2022.
More candidates, fewer who fit.
Sales and marketing leadership are growing roles in the UK.
Sales managers and chief marketing officers both appear on LinkedIn's Jobs on the Rise 2026 list of the 25 fastest-growing UK jobs; for CMOs, go-to-market strategy is one of the three most common skills, and 25% of CMO jobs were advertised as remote and 52% as hybrid.
GTM engineering is still consolidating.
The State of GTM Engineering found agencies helped popularise the role, but "the most mature organizations are not outsourcing this capability".
Instead, they are building it internally.
For job hunters that means more in-house GTM engineer openings; for employers it means competing for a small pool.
We do not publish a "top companies" list: it goes out of date in weeks, and nobody publishes reliable hiring counts by company.
The practical route is the boards below, filtered by role and location, plus the careers pages of companies whose product you already use.
RevOps Roles, for example, showed 390 open GTM engineer roles when we checked on 28 September 2026.
09/ where to look
Individual postings expire; these boards do not.
Each was opened on 28 September 2026.
GTM-specific
A board for GTM roles (RevOps, sales ops, GTM engineering, growth), filterable by seniority and employment type.
Mostly US and India listings.
GTM engineering
A GTM engineering category with salary insight drawn from the listings themselves; it showed 390 open roles, 42% remote, when we checked.
RevOps
Curated revenue operations jobs: RevOps specialist, analyst and manager roles, including Europe.
Volume
The largest volume of GTM and RevOps roles, especially outside the US.
Save the search and set an alert; search the work ("Clay", "RevOps") as well as the title.
Startups
Good for early-stage and founding GTM roles, often with salary and equity shown.
US tech
A tech jobs board with salary ranges on many listings; strongest for US cities and remote US roles.
Community
A community of revenue professionals, which describes itself as 60k members.
It is useful for referrals as much as listings.
Fractional
Our sister site lists fractional GTM roles and fractional and interim leadership jobs for senior people who want two or three days a week.
For technical roles specifically, see our GTM engineer jobs page.
10/ for employers
Three questions teams ask us before they hire a GTM engineer.
Pick one.
→ Faster to prove the motion with an agency; a hire is better once there is something to run. SalesFuel found companies typically spend nearly three months hiring a sales rep before that person makes a first sales call.
→ In-house wins long-term. That is why we hand over: the most mature organizations build GTM engineering internally.
→ The State of GTM Engineering found GTM engineering agency retainers from $1K to $33K a month, median minimum around $5K and median maximum around $8K; compare that with the salary table above.
11/ for job seekers
SQL, basic Python or JavaScript, and how APIs work.
The State of GTM Engineering found coding is worth a $40K to $45K premium for GTM engineers, and BisonRS sees a 20 to 30% premium for technical RevOps people.
A CRM (Salesforce or HubSpot, used by around 88% of GTM engineers), Clay, a sequencing tool and an enrichment provider.
Most vendors run free certifications; do them and build something with each.
A short write-up or recorded walkthrough of something you built: an enrichment workflow, a signal-based list, a lead-routing fix.
Say what it changed: meetings, hours saved, data quality.
Many GTM roles fill through referrals.
Communities such as RevGenius and the Clay community are where hiring managers ask for recommendations.
Choose ten companies whose product and stage you understand, follow their hiring, and apply when a role opens.
A tailored application to the right company beats fifty to the wrong ones.
12/ the technical role
A GTM engineer builds the technical layer under sales and marketing: enrichment workflows, signals, lead routing, outbound infrastructure and the connections between tools.
The State of GTM Engineering found 84% use Clay and 72% report direct revenue impact, and that the role is splitting in two: operators who configure tools, and engineers who write code and build their own.
If you are hunting, read the job description for which of the two it wants.
If you are hiring, decide before you write the ad; the pay gap between them is large.
Our GTM engineer guide covers scoping and screening, and GTM engineer jobs covers the technical openings.
GTM engineering is also the core of what we build for clients: see GTM engineering and Clay on our home page, and Apollo vs Clay for the tooling choice.
13/ UK and London
"GTM engineer" as a title is still more common in the US.
UK companies often fold the same work into RevOps, marketing operations or sales operations titles, so search those alongside "GTM engineer" and "GTM" when you look for GTM jobs in London or elsewhere in the UK.
London is where most UK GTM leadership hiring happens: LinkedIn's Jobs on the Rise 2026 lists London first for both sales manager and CMO hiring, followed by Southampton and Northampton for sales managers and Manchester and Bristol for CMOs.
BisonRS reports that remote premiums have disappeared in UK RevOps pay.
Companies now pay the same wherever in the UK the person lives.
14/ part-time and interim
Many senior GTM roles are now fractional: a CRO, CMO or head of sales working part-time across two or three companies, or an interim leader covering a gap.
Our sister site Fractional Quest handles these: fractional GTM jobs, fractional CRO roles, fractional head of sales roles and a guide to the founding GTM lead, the first dedicated GTM hire at an early-stage company.
For companies, a fractional leader is often the right first senior hire: strategy and judgement without a full-time salary.
We cover how that compares with an agency in fractional GTM manager vs GTM agency.
