Complete guide to RevOps careers, skills, and hiring for B2B SaaS companies.

Revenue Operations (RevOps) specialists align sales, marketing, and customer success operations to optimize revenue growth.

They manage CRM systems, analyze performance metrics, and implement process improvements.

Key skills include Salesforce, HubSpot, data analysis, and business process optimization.

The role involves marketing operations, sales operations, customer success operations, and revenue analytics.

RevOps specialists are essential for scaling B2B SaaS companies and improving go-to-market efficiency.

Choosing a go-to-market strategy agency comes down to fit: stage, market and sales motion. Our guide covers the questions to ask, and our page on working with a London GTM agency covers how an engagement is scoped.

GTM Quest editorial guide · Updated 10 October 2026

Assess a RevOps specialist’s process judgement, system ownership and collaboration.

Practical guide · 01

Define the specialist’s decision rights

A RevOps specialist may analyse, configure and coordinate, but should not be expected to decide every commercial policy alone. Write the role around the processes they own and the decisions requiring sales, marketing or customer leadership. Clear authority makes technical work easier to prioritise.

Your decision

Analyse

Specify the commercial questions the specialist investigates. They need access to records and people who can explain how the process works.

Implement

Define approved configuration and integration responsibilities. Include test environments, access boundaries and release expectations.

Coordinate

Give the specialist a route for resolving disagreements about definitions and handoffs. Name the executive who decides unresolved policy questions.

Practical guide · 02

Assess reasoning with a disputed dashboard

Give a candidate a fictional case where marketing and sales report different opportunity totals. Ask how they would investigate before changing either dashboard. A strong answer should trace definitions and records, then explain the decision to the teams affected.

  1. 1

    Compare

Inspect units, time windows and inclusion rules. Check whether the dashboards count contacts, accounts or opportunities.

  2. 2

    Trace

Reconcile representative records and identify the cause of disagreement. Separate missing data from a legitimate difference in definition.

  3. 3

    Resolve

Agree the shared commercial meaning with stakeholders. Document any measures that should remain distinct and why.

Practical guide · 03

Worked example: an automation changes the forecast

Fictional example: a workflow moves opportunities into a later stage based on activity. The RevOps specialist investigates whether the stage still represents buyer progress. The repair needs a commercial definition, a tested rule and an explanation to the forecast owner.

  1. Stage 101

    Inspect

Compare the automated event with the stage’s agreed evidence. Review affected opportunities with their owners.
  2. Stage 202

    Correct

Get approval for the revised rule and treatment of existing records. Test the effect on reporting before release.
  3. Stage 303

    Monitor

Check new exceptions and user behaviour. Keep the definition, configuration and report documentation aligned.
