What an outbound agency does and what you are actually buying
An outbound agency runs prospecting for B2B companies that cannot, or do not want to, run it themselves.
The work has five parts: deciding who to contact and when, reaching them by email, reaching them on LinkedIn, calling them, and turning replies into qualified meetings in your CRM.
Agencies differ in which of those parts they lead with.
Some are calling floors with SDRs on dialers all day.
Some are cold email shops that send at scale from dozens of domains.
Some sell SDR-as-a-service: a named rep, managed by them, working your accounts.
A newer group builds signal-led systems in tools like Clay and runs or hands them over.
The question is not which is best in general.
It is which part of outbound is your bottleneck: knowing who to contact, having the infrastructure to reach them, or having people to hold the conversation.
Outbound agency, outbound sales agency, outbound marketing agency: the labels
Outbound sales agency and outbound agency usually mean the same thing: a firm that books meetings through direct outreach.
Outbound lead generation agency puts the emphasis on the list and the first touch, sometimes stopping at a qualified lead rather than a meeting.
Outbound marketing agency is looser.
Some use it for the same prospecting service; others mean paid ads, direct mail and events aimed at a cold audience.
Ask which channels are in scope before you compare quotes.
A B2B outbound agency is simply one that sells to businesses, which is most of them.
