UK GTM agency a London team, starting on day one

GTM Quest is a UK GTM agency based in London.

We build and run the go-to-market motion for B2B teams selling in the UK: the accounts, the message, the channels and the data underneath.

This page is also for overseas companies entering the UK.

It covers what we do, what changes when you sell into Britain from the US or Europe, and how to choose among the best GTM agencies in the UK, us included.

We start the GTM motion on day one.

Not after a discovery phase, a workshop and a deck.

01/ our service

UK go-to-market services what we build and run

Six parts of one system.

Every channel points at the same list of UK accounts, so each one makes the next one easier.

01

The UK account list

Which UK companies should buy from you this quarter, and who sits in each buying group.

Built from Companies House, your CRM and enrichment, then agreed with whoever takes the meetings.

02

Positioning for British buyers

What you say, in British English, against the alternatives a UK buyer already has.

Positioning first, copy second: the claim a UK competitor could not make about themselves.

03

LinkedIn, from your team

Founder and team profiles, posts built around the buyer's problems, and LinkedIn ads to the account list, so outreach arrives from a name the account has already seen.

04

Signal-led outbound

Email and LinkedIn outreach timed to something that happened (a hire, a post, a visit to your site by company) and written to PECR rules from the first message.

See B2B lead generation.

05

The data layer you own

A campaign database above your CRM, enriched in Clay, holding the list, the signals and every touch.

It sits in your accounts from the start.

06

UK set-up, joined up

For companies entering from abroad: the order to do entity, VAT, data and outreach rules in, so none of them holds up the pipeline.

We work alongside your accountant and lawyer; we are neither.

If you need one channel run well rather than the whole motion, see ABM agency UK, B2B demand generation or B2B lead generation.

If you need broad B2B marketing (content, advertising, brand), our B2B marketing agency UK page is the place to start.

02/ how we start

We start the GTM motion on day one and build the rest around it

Most agencies spend a month getting ready.

We run the first conversations while the system is being built, so the build is shaped by what UK buyers actually say.

  1. 01

    The motion starts

We agree the first accounts with you and start the conversations the same day: founder and team LinkedIn, warm introductions, and your existing UK contacts. No waiting for a finished plan.

    DAY 1
  2. 02

    Message and data layer

The ideal customer profile written down with sales, positioning tested against the first replies, the account list enriched in Clay and synced to your CRM.

    WEEK 1
  3. 03

    Every channel running

Sending domains warmed in the background and brought in as they are ready. LinkedIn ads and content to the account list; signal-led outbound to the accounts that engage.

    WEEKS 2 TO 4
  4. 04

    Narrow and scale

The UK accounts that answer are rarely exactly the ones on the first list. We narrow the ICP, rewrite what is not landing and scale what is.

    MONTH 2
  5. 05

    Pipeline you can forecast

Opportunities with dates on them, a monthly pipeline review with sales, and the decision about who runs it from here: us, or your team.

    MONTH 3

Day one is not a slogan.

The fastest way to learn what a UK buyer will answer is to ask a few of them, and the answers change the list, the message and the order the channels go live in.

What day one does not contain is revenue.

First closed deals follow your own sales cycle, and nothing an agency does shortens it; the only lever is starting the conversations earlier.

03/ engagement

How we engage four ways to work with us

All four start the same way: the motion on day one, the system built around it.

The difference is who runs it afterwards.

Who should run your UK go-to-market after the first month?

Embedded

Your UK go-to-market team

We operate the motion day to day as part of your team: LinkedIn, content, outbound and reporting.

Your salespeople take the meetings.

  • βœ“ Daily campaign management
  • βœ“ Founder content drafted
  • βœ“ Meetings handed to sales
  • βœ“ Weekly pipeline report

Often the right shape for overseas companies before a UK hire.

What it costs. Every engagement is scoped and quoted in writing after the discovery call.

Tools, data and media are separate lines, so you can see where the money goes.

04/ selling into the UK

Where are you selling from? what changes for you

The UK go-to-market is the same motion wherever you start.

What changes is the set-up underneath it, and which rules catch overseas teams out.

Where is your company based?

US company

Selling into the UK from the US

The biggest change is outreach law.

US teams are used to CAN-SPAM's opt-out model; in the UK the rule turns on who you email.

The ICO says PECR's electronic mail rule does not apply to corporate subscribers, but sole traders and some partnerships are treated like individuals.

  • βœ“ Data: UK personal data can go to US organisations certified to the [UK Extension of the Data Privacy Framework](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-us-data-bridge-supporting-documents/uk-us-data-bridge-factsheet-for-uk-organisations); check yours is on the list
  • βœ“ UK GDPR: with no UK office, you may need a [UK representative](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/international-transfers/receiving-personal-information-from-the-eea/)
  • βœ“ VAT: a business based outside the UK must [register regardless of turnover](https://www.gov.uk/vat-registration/when-to-register) in some cases
  • βœ“ Spelling, currency and dates: British English, pounds, day before month

Start with the stepper below, then book a call.

05/ UK market entry

UK GTM strategy for foreign companies the set-up, in the order it bites

Five things an overseas B2B company has to settle to sell in the UK.

None of them needs to delay the first conversation.

But each one can stop a campaign if it is left too late.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Decide whether you need a UK entity yet

Companies House is explicit that carrying on business in the UK does not automatically mean an overseas company must register.

A UK establishment (a place of business or branch) must be registered within one month of opening, and it costs Β£124.

Setting up a UK limited company instead costs Β£100 online and is usually done within 24 hours.

  • βœ“ Sell from abroad first
  • βœ“ Register a UK establishment
  • βœ“ Or form a UK limited company

None of these steps is a reason to wait.

We start the motion on day one from your team's own profiles and existing contacts while your advisers work through the set-up, and bring each channel in as the rules behind it are settled.

06/ the differences

UK vs US go-to-market and the alternatives to an agency

Two comparisons that decide most UK plans: how the UK differs from the market you know, and who should run the motion here.

Selling in the UKSelling in the US
Cold B2B emailDepends on the recipient: corporate subscribers are [outside PECR's email rule](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/); sole traders are notCAN-SPAM [makes no exception for business-to-business email](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business); opt-outs honoured within 10 business days

Public sector[Procurement Act 2023 in force since 24 February 2025](https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/transforming-public-procurement)Federal and state rules

β†’ The motion carries over; the rules do not. We write every UK sequence to PECR from the first message.

07/ the rule that trips overseas teams

Can we contact them? a quick PECR check

UK outreach runs under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and the answer turns on who you contact, not on whether the address looks like a work address.

The ICO notes its B2B guidance is under review after the Data (Use and Access) Act.

Who are you contacting?

How?

Allowed

Yes, PECR consent is not needed

PECR's electronic mail rule does not apply to corporate subscribers (companies, LLPs, Scottish partnerships). Say who you are, give an opt-out, and remember UK GDPR still applies to a named person's data.

ICO guidance β†— Β· Not legal advice

The corporate-subscriber rule is why UK cold email to a limited company is lawful where the same email to a sole trader may not be.

UK GDPR still applies to the named person: the ICO says a person you can identify is personal data even when acting in a business capacity.

Since 5 February 2026 the ICO can fine up to Β£17.5 million or 4% of global turnover under PECR.

This is general information, not legal advice.

08/ the market

How UK B2B buyers buy what to plan for

The UK is a market you can name.

The ONS counted 2.73 million VAT and/or PAYE-registered businesses in March 2025, and 76.7% of them are companies and public corporations.

A limited company is a corporate subscriber under PECR, which shapes who you may email.

London is the single biggest cluster, with 19.7% of registered UK businesses.

But most B2B markets are national: a UK account list usually runs from London to Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh.

UK buyers, like buyers everywhere, would rather not meet a salesperson early.

Gartner's survey of 646 B2B buyers found 67% prefer a rep-free experience, and 45% used AI during a recent purchase.

That is why the motion leads with recognition.

A buyer who has seen your founder's posts and your ads answers a direct message differently from one who has never heard of you.

Payment terms and procurement

B2B invoices in the UK carry a statutory right to interest when paid late: 8% plus the Bank of England base rate for business-to-business transactions.

Put your payment terms in the contract rather than relying on it.

If you sell to the public sector, the Procurement Act 2023 came into force on 24 February 2025.

Our sister site RFP Quest tracks UK public-sector tenders.

British English, pounds and dates

Small things read as foreign fast: dollar prices, American spelling, month-first dates, a US phone number in the signature.

We write every UK message in British English, price in pounds and give a UK contact route from the first touch.

09/ choosing

How to choose among the best GTM agencies in the UK seven criteria, answered about us first

There is no accredited register or licence for GTM agencies, so the diligence is yours.

These are the criteria we would use, with our own answers.

01

They start fast

Ask when the first conversation with a buyer happens.

Ours: day one, from your team's own profiles and contacts.

02

They know UK rules

Ask them to explain corporate and individual subscribers under PECR without notes.

Ours is written into every sequence, and into the check above.

03

The people in the pitch do the work

Names, roles and how much of their week is yours.

Ours: the people on the call run the motion.

04

They measure pipeline

Meetings, opportunities and pipeline, not impressions and form fills.

Ours: a monthly pipeline review with your sales lead.

05

You own the tools and data

Whose name is on the CRM, the domains and the enrichment account?

Ours: yours, from the start.

06

They can cover the UK and Europe

If the UK is your first European market, ask what happens next.

Ours: Europe from London once the UK is working.

07

They are a real UK company

Check any agency's filings free at Companies House.

Ours: Fractional Quest Ltd, company number 17322105, registered in England and Wales.

10/ red flags

Six red flags in a UK GTM agency pitch and what to ask instead

"We need six weeks before anything goes live"

A plan with no conversations behind it is a guess.

Ask what happens in the first week that involves a buyer.

Person-level website de-anonymisation as a feature

In the UK, identify the company, not the person.

Ask how they handle UK visitor data.

Thousands of emails from a new domain

Volume before deliverability is proven burns the domain.

Ask how they warm and protect sending domains.

Unsourced percentages in the deck

Ask where every number comes from.

An agency that cannot source its pitch will not source your campaigns.

Their tools, their data

If the list and the CRM live in their accounts, leaving costs you the list.

Ask whose name is on the contracts.

A US playbook, unchanged

CAN-SPAM habits applied to UK sole traders are a PECR problem.

Ask what they change for the UK.

11/ coverage

A London GTM agency for the UK and Europe best agencies for B2B go-to-market in London

We are based in London and work with B2B teams across the UK, and with US and European companies selling into it.

Location matters less than it used to, because most work is remote.

But UK market knowledge does not travel as well as a playbook.

For B2B SaaS teams, the UK is often the first European market and London the base for the rest.

When the UK motion is working, we take the same system to Europe: see our guides to the Nordics, Poland, Spain and Italy, and GTM agencies in Ireland.

For how the category works and the questions to ask, see our guide to choosing a go-to-market strategy agency.

12/ specialists

UK GTM specialists worth knowing for the work we don’t do

Some briefs need something narrower than a go-to-market build: a HubSpot rebuild, in-country sales reps, an outsourced SDR team.

These UK-headquartered firms specialise in it.

Each line is what the firm says on its own site, checked on 28 September 2026.

GTM Quest editorial guide Β· Updated 10 October 2026

UK market entry for international B2B companies

Practical guide Β· 01

UK market entry starts with a reachable segment

A UK office is a business decision; a UK go-to-market plan is a buyer decision. Define what can be sold, delivered and supported before widening the account list.

Your decision

Direct

Your team owns the customer relationship. Establish account selection, relevant proof and UK follow-up capacity.

Partner

A partner contributes access or delivery. Define commercial ownership and what happens if the arrangement ends.

Local operator

A UK operator runs the motion. Make account data, tooling and the eventual handover explicit.

Practical guide Β· 02

Adapt the evidence as well as the language

British spelling and sterling pricing are useful details, but they do not replace buyer proof. Test the assumptions behind the offer.

  1. 1

    Buyer problem

Confirm that the same problem exists within the chosen UK segment. Ask what the current alternative gets right.

  2. 2

    Delivery

Explain support, implementation and contracting responsibilities. Escalate unanswered tax or legal questions to the relevant specialist.

  3. 3

    Commercial next step

Give a suitable buyer an evaluation route and a named owner. Align the next step with the actual procurement process.

Practical guide Β· 03

Worked example: a US vendor tests UK demand

Fictional example: a US SaaS vendor has UK enquiries but no UK reference customer. It should test a specific segment before assuming demand is broad.

  1. Stage 101

    Select

Choose accounts whose problem closely matches the existing use case. State where the US evidence may not transfer.
  2. Stage 202

    Test

Use relevant demonstrations and conversations to learn about procurement, delivery and objections.
  3. Stage 303

    Commit

Expand the motion when the evidence supports the segment and the delivery team can serve it. Preserve the test findings for future hires.

Practical guide Β· 04

Define what local support means

A London address is not a complete delivery model.

Compare

Presence

Specify the meetings and support needing UK coverage.

Capability

Specify the research, channels and operation the supplier must own.

Practical guide Β· 05

Check references against your entry plan

A UK client logo alone does not settle fit.

Compare

Similar

Look for relevant buyer roles, use case and procurement.

Different

Ask which assumptions need a new market test.

Practical guide Β· 06

Resolve the commercial boundary early

The buyer needs a clear delivery and contracting route.

Compare

Supplier

Clarify entity, invoicing, implementation and support responsibility.

Specialists

Send product-specific tax and legal questions to qualified advisers.

Practical guide Β· 07

Make the local learning portable

An entry programme should leave reusable knowledge.

Compare

Record

Keep buyer language, objections and account evidence together.

Transfer

Give the internal owner the playbook and maintenance responsibility.

Practical guide Β· 08

Expand from evidence rather than a country label

A successful test can still be specific to one segment.

Compare

Replicate

Identify the conditions behind the early result.

Extend

Test what changes when the next segment differs.

UK GTM agency FAQ

What B2B teams ask before they pick a GTM agency in the UK, and what overseas companies ask before they sell here.

It depends on the job.

Not automatically.

Companies House says carrying on business in the UK does not automatically mean an overseas company must register; a UK place of business or branch must be registered within one month of opening.

Take legal advice for your case.

Possibly, even with low sales.

HMRC says a business based outside the UK that supplies goods or services to the UK must register regardless of turnover, subject to exceptions.

Ask a UK tax adviser before you invoice.

Companies, yes, within UK GDPR: PECR's electronic mail rule does not apply to corporate subscribers.

Sole traders and some partnerships are treated like individuals.

Try the PECR check.

If you are based outside the UK with no UK establishment and offer services to people in the UK or monitor their behaviour, usually yes, unless your processing is occasional and low risk.

We are a London GTM agency and most of our work is B2B SaaS and tech.

We usually start with the UK, then take the same system into Europe.
